      P2P Download speeds

I'm sure this is a question asked by many, but none answer mine specifically...

I'm currently on 2mb Pipex - my torrent speeds are normally 20 kB/s and on the rare occasion they hit 60 kB/s - now and again they go crazy and hit 400kB/s but only at the start of a download.

I'm fully aware that alot of the P2P download speeds are all down to the upload rate of the seeder. But should I expect any faster speeds if I change my service to Sky's 16mb?.... obviously it depends on the quality of the line + distance from exchange.... But will P2P speeds be any better?

      Thanks!

      Re: P2P Download speeds

The answer is yes and no,( all down to seeders )

Yes it will increase as the 16mb line can take more data than your 2mb line
NO if there is not enough seeders you will not get the speed.

      Re: P2P Download speeds

      Hi,

I came from pipex to sky and can safely say that pipex throttle most connections to 20k/sec even though you should get 250k/sec on a 2mbs connection.

Sky however dont throttle connections ( the connect package might have some throttling ) but i know the max connection does not because thats what i have, You donwload at whatever speed you can recieve at ( depending on seeds ) . the average i get is around 200k/sec which is not too bad for filesharing speed.
