Poor speed
Hi,
I recently moved house and decided to change from PlusNet to Sky in the process. I was on an 8 Meg line in my old house (same exchange). Geographically, I'm now closer to the exchange than I was in my old house (as the crow flies, no idea about actual line length)
The connection (Sky Mid) was activated on Tuesday this week, so we're in day 5 now.
The speed has been variable, but nowhere near what it was like in my old house. Yesterday I did a speed test that showed 1.5 Mbps but today it's back down to 0.5 Mbps. I seem to be getting half-meg performance in general. The line syncs at 8 Mbps.
Here are my stats. If I need to leave my router on a bit longer before getting some more stats, please let me know - I tend to switch it off when I'm not using it (would this affect the 10-day period?)

Re: Poor speed
Mid is a Sky LLU product. There is no 10 day period and speeds should not vary significantly in the first 5 days or any other time.
I can think of two possible reasons for what you are experiencing. The first and most likely is that you are connecting wirelessly and you have a poor quality wireless signal (not the same as wireless strength).
The second is that you have line issues. However, looking at your stats you are syncing at full blast for Mid (8096kbps) with a healthy noise margin.
My bet is on wireless.

Re: Poor speed
Thanks Saturday, that's exactly what it was!
I have relocated the router and things seem much happier now, including yours truly!
Thanks again.
Chris.
