Variable (low) download speeds and high pings - classic wireless problem. What results does your brother get with a wired connection?

Looking at your stats and the info you've given, you can rule out wireless in your case.

There's two issues here: ping times and download speeds.

Pings you can do little about. Sky tends to put people on interleave and while this improves the connection stability, it does increase ping times. You'll find several discussion threads on this in the gaming forum.

Download speed is different. There are many reasons for a slow download speed but one thing is certain - you can't download faster than your connection speed. Your stats show you are connected at 1824kbps.

If you once had a connection speed higher than this then something has changed on your line.

Again, looking at your stats I can see that you are connecting at little more than half your theoretical speed for your attenuation and your noise margin has dropped way too low. You have a very noisy line and I'd be confident that your detailed stats would show a high level of errors.

There are many, many threads and posts on noise problems which I suggest you read. Start in the cabling and faceplate help forum but before that read the first sticky in my signature at the bottom of this post.

I dont know alot about routers and stuff, but i ran a few tests online, and i am around 1.66 kilometres from your exchange (as the crow flies).
and i should be capable of getting 3mb or above... and im stuck at 1.8-2mb which really sucks balls.
Think its just all noise? sorry if im a R-tard not very clever to do with routers and other stats xD bare with me.

Still having errors, ive even bought a brand spanking new modem lead, which can sustain alot more speed then my original phone cable, and has alot more noise protection, and im still getting terrible download speeds, huge ping on games, and 2mb bb...

Your challenge is to remove noise on your entire phone wiring circuit - whilst a new modem lead can't hurt that's not likely to be the answer.

As I said before - read the forums. The answer will almost certainly involve fitting a replacement filtered faceplate and may also involve some other changes to your wiring.

Re: 4mb down to less then 2mb :O

I'l look into purchasing a new faceplate, and il continue to look around the cabling forum etc to find more details about the noise issue.
Does firmware matter? how would i no if i had the most recent firmware update etc? :S (not good with this whole networking thing as you can tell)

Thanks for your help, may need more assistance sooner or later.....

      Quite possibly sooner lol.
