Gradual drop in speed over the last 3 months

I have had a slow drop in speed from 5050 kbps in February when I joined to around 510 kbps now three months later in May. Nothing in my house has changed, the phone line and equipment is exactly the same as 3 months ago. If I check the speed in the morning I can get around 2000 kbps but by the evening it can drop as low as 300 kbps. I have changed the filter and checked the socket. I also have problems around 50 percent of the time with accessing web pages, with frequent time outs. Sometimes running the Sky test will result in error code 300. Frequent resetting the modem and trying different DNS settings gets it going. But frankly it is a struggle! Any help much appreciated.
