      Stats? Are these any good?

      Hi,

Forgive my novice nature, but I posted some router stats in the help forum a few weeks ago (the router was connected to an extension) and was told that they were shocking (too many errors).

I've now plugged into the main BT socket and re-run the diagnostics using mognut's tool.

Here's the output - can anyone give me any pointers?

Re: Stats? Are these any good?

Still a very high number of CRC and ES errors.

Errors are predominantly caused by line noise and line noise can mean a lower connection speed. However, your Connect service is coping pretty well with them and your connection speed is only a little down on what it should be.

Errors can also mean that data has to be retransmitted so download speeds are also affected.

If at a later date you move to a Sky LLU service, on ADSL2+ if you can eliminate those errors, your attenuation would support a connection speed of ~14000kbps - nearly double what you currently have.

Connecting to the master socket avoids a plug in extension which is a good thing but it doesn't avoid the effects of any hardwired extensions and anything that is plugged into them.

To find out how much your internal wiring is contributing to the errors you need to run a comparative test with just your router connected to your test socket which is hidden inside your master socket (assuming you have an NTE5).
