      Hi all

      Here's my results:

      http://www.numion.com/YourSpeed3/Sho...?ID=51,368,146

I'm on the Mid package, and my router syncs at 7996 kb/s. The test shows 6.5 Mb/s download speed which is a lot higher than I've got using the adslguide.org.uk speed test (around 2.6 Mb/sec).

The ADSL guide speed test seems to always report back very slow results for me also. Not convinced that it's measure is at all correct.

I know that the Apple website downloads section is on some heavy duty optimized servers and are bound to have big "data pipes", so people could see what kind of data rates you get by downloading one of their files (no matter if you're on a PC, just choose a fairly large file (100MB region) delete the file once downloaded, just use it to see what data transfer rate you're getting).

      http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/

By the way, last night when I first logged on at around 20:30Hrs I was getting speed test results of equivalent to 10MB, yet half an hour later they were more in the region of 5 - 6.5MB - a fairly big slow down?

      @ Neil

Those are decent results, almost 10 Mb/s download. You have to expect some upstream bottlenecks. Maybe you'll get the full 16 Mb/s on a good day!

I think this particular speed test site is pretty good and reports accurate results (at least from the UK), and I like the way the data are presented. I've tried it with 3 different internet connections of differing speeds and the upload/download bandwidths reported by the site seem much more accurate and consistent than those of other speed test sites I've tried. Also the test doesn't consume a lot of bandwidth and is over in 10-15 seconds. (OK you get a pop-up but they've got to cover their costs somehow)

Thanks for pointing this site out (it's a handy tool not just for Sky BB users).

Another run from my 'MID' (up to 8 Mb/s download) Sky BB connection. It is pretty much the same figures as before.

Andrew (obviously got nothing better to do)
