You still may need to adjust the postion of the receiver. What I did was open speednet and click test and at the same time have the wireless status open and watch to see if the wireless speed drops or flux's. If so move it till its solid whilst testing. Mine is currently blue tacked to the window and speed has not wavered one bit.

      Re: Slow wireless connection

It's obviously a wireless problem then , have you tried changing the channel on the router as you may be getting a poor signal due to other BB users or equipment near the router.

      Re: Slow wireless connection

      Go to http://192.168.0.1

      Username : adim
      Password : sky

      Go to Router Settings

      Wireless Network

      Change Channel to 1, 6 or 11

See which one gives you the best result. I ended up with 11 and no interference from anything/anyone anymore.

      Re: Slow wireless connection

      Ok, what I would do:

      1. Download Netstumbler and see what else is operating in the area. If you see other WLANs on the same channel, change yours. Remember the only non-overlapping channels are 1, 6, and 11. So if someone else is on 11 choose 1 (and not 9 or 10 because you will still be interfering).

      2. Check USB 2.0 drivers. Are you sure the device is using USB2.0 or is it falling back to USB 1.

      3. Is anyone else using wireless. Wireless is a shared medium, so if two people are connected to the same AP the bandwidth will be split (with the person shouting loudest getting the lion's share).

      4. Update your wireless drivers and download the latests patches from microsoft. The Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2)/Wireless Provisioning Services Information Element (WPS IE) update for Windows XP with Service Pack 2 is available the microsoft wpa2 patch fixes a lot of problems.

      5. Try out a reflector it will directionalise your signal a bit. Ez-12 I made one for a laugh and saw about a 20% increase in signal strength.

      6. Use a wire if possible, Wireless is a convenience but only that it is flakey at best and will be effected by anything operating in the ISM 2.4GHz range e.g. microwaves, wireless tv senders, bluetooth. etc.
