They don't need to, it works perfectly well, they choose to so that the e-mail is not tagged as from Sky, this is a preference thing that's all.

      Re: email via sky

A lot of firms have implemented checks to help reduce Spam.

Essentially they filter traffic using the ports required by mail servers and pass it through their servers.

I have a couple of Yahoo accounts and these needed some tinkering to get past the Sky filtration, but they work just fine now.

I used to have a Vodafone email, but using my 3G dongle on the 3 network I couldn't send or receive emails on that account. Others were unaffected.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

If you are using the sky SMTP server it most certainly is!

Your from username will be replaced by your sky one, and if you register your alternate email address with sky then there will be a "sender" field attached which will cause Outlook to show your emails as from "x" on behalf of "y".
