Incorrect password used ( but it's not? ) windows live mail issue

      Evening all

I'm hoping someone might be able to help me here i had a message around 5pm today saying 'd reset my password which i didn't do?

I contacted sky over this and they said i was best to change my email ( skyuser) password which i did by verifying my account details etc

But now when i log on to my email using windows live mail it keeps saying wrong password used even though i've changed it more than a dozen time?

I'm pulling my hair out here as i don't see what's wrong and i can login to my mail via a browser ( firefox ) so my password is correct and works.

The error message is below :-

Unable to send or receive messages for the Scott account. An incorrect password was entered. The next time you send or receive messages, you'll be asked to enter your user name and password for this account.

      Server Error: 0x800CCC90
Server Response: -ERR [AUTH] Username and password not accepted.
      Server: 'pop.tools.sky.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC92
      Protocol: POP3
      Port: 995
      Secure(SSL): Yes

      Any ideas?
      Try another new password?

      Thanks.

Perhaps a silly question, but have you changed your password within your windows live mail pop account to reflect the password change?

tools > accounts > highlight your pop account > properties > servers tab > delete the password and change it to the password that you can currently log into webmail (sky.com) with and apply the change.

Sync up and see if you have any joy.

I doubt this is an issue for the fact that it's worked previously before this password business, but ensure that both the e-mail address (general tab I believe) and login name (servers tab) are both your full e-mail address i.e. x@sky.com. If that's fine, then try the following:

Close windows live mail completely and go to www.sky.com/unlock. Enter the username, password and the captcha image. Check that the captcha has been successfully unlocked and re-open windows live mail and try to sync. If still no joy, then it's possible that the password needs synced via a google-tool that Sky support have access to.

Ok, I've tried to unlock it and now it's giving me " Username and password do not match"

I really don't understand this as the password works fine when i login via my browser.

How do i sync via this goggle tool?

      Thanks.

Yep, sounds like it needs synced. Ring 08442410515 and you should get through to the broadband tech team. Ask them to sync your sky username up and if they don't understand what that means, ask to be put through to someone who knows how to do it and give the advisor a slap, also.
