      Authentication error to SMTP server

      Since Friday I have been getting the following error


      Task 'mike@xxx.com - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC80) : 'None of the authentication methods supported by this client are supported by your server.'

      I haven't knowingly changed anything and my outgoing settings does not require SPA

      Any ideas ?

      Try some of these ....
      reported error (0x800CCC80) - Google Search
      Some say disable antivirus while another says set the "Log on to incoming mail server before sending mail" in the options, also make sure nothing has accidently changed in the outgoing server settings.

      I'm getting same issue all of a sudden. Sent/received fine this morning, now getting the "none of teh authentication methods" rubbish.

      Nothing has changed in my Outlook settings, I've tried the "Log on first" option without success, and the idea of switching off antivirus...well that just sounds so WRONG.

      what have you done Sky? Hmm? Hmm?

      I doubt if Sky have done anything, if they had it would be effecting us all. It is quite likely an update to your OS, Outlook or your AV that is causing the problem.

      Try disabling your AV email scanner. If that cures it contact your AV supplier for a fix.

      Have a look and see if you have received a recent update to Outlook. If you have, uninstall it. See if it cures the problem. The update will be put back with your next update from MS.

      Try Repairing Outlook. Windows key, type appwiz.cpl and Enter. Highlight MS Office and click Repair in the top menu bar. Follow the instructions.

      Are you actually using the SkyUser SMTP server?
