getting sky + installed next weekend.. but don't want a mess!
Hi,
I've already got standard sky.. and the existing installation (the way the cable is run around the side of the house and under the front roofing area, and especially how it comes into the house ( it's just a standard drilled hole.. but the outside has a lovely white plastic cover it so the hole is hidden and tidy.. and inside the house is neat also...
When the engineer comes next week.. will he have to drill a new hole or do you reckon he'll be able to squeeze another cable through the existing hole.
I know it may sound petty, but I'd rather not have a hash job made of it when the existing job was done so well....

I had an additional hole drilled next to my existing sky cable.

I moved from standard to Sky+ HD recently.
The installer did an excellent technical job.
BUT he was in a great rush.
In my experience they are not given much time.
Changed LNB and had to lay a new cable and
drill a new hole. Checked everything was working.
The drilling inside and out was something of a mess.
You are very particular so you should take him
to one side to explain what you want before he
charges ahead.

Re: getting sky + installed next weekend.. but don't want a mess!
Had Sky + installed last week and the original sky cable was replaced with a double core one. This was thin enough that the engineer managed to pass it through the existing drill holes so didn't need to drill any extras.

That's the difference between a Sky Engineer and a Contractor. Sky install a double core cable and contractors run an extra cable.
A contractor installed my Sky+ and i have two cables instead of one double core.

I would ask Sky to send out a Sky Engineer as i think it is just the luck of the draw who turns up to do the work.
I've had 9 Sky+ boxes, contactors came out 6 times and Sky only 3 times.
