      Increasing hard drive size

I have read a lot of threads about upgrading hard drives in a Sky+ (not HD) box. Most, if not all, involve the Copy+ software route. As I have no wish to save any data on the old disk. All I want to do is increase the storage capacity. Can I, just put in a new disk, unformatted, and will the box do all formatting etc for me?

Also is there a limit to the disk size I can fit without going down the Copy+ route? If so what is it?

      FYI I have a Pace TDS470N with a 80GB drive.

Thanks in advance for your help.

      Re: Increasing hard drive size

The box will format the disk but it may not use the full size of the disk. Better to use Copy+ and get the full disk size.

Remember this box uses PATA connection so anything over 750Gb would require a PATA to SATA converter. I don't know how well these would work in this box. In fact you may find it difficult to get a large size drive with IDE connections these days, almost all large drives are SATA.

In all honesty you may be better upgrading to a newer box. You can get one on eBay for about the price of a large drive.
