      Closing Sky + Subscription

Currently I subscribe to Sky with the basic and 2 premium channel packs. However, about the only premium tv we watch is House on Sky 1 and that is ending soon. I have a half-full Sky + box but virtually all the recordings are from the public service channels.

I am considering going over to a FreeSat HD recording box from Humax but don't want the hassle of playing all the recordings and resaving them on a DVD recorder.

If I cancel the Sky subscription will I still be able to watch the recordings from the public channels on the Sky + box until they are exhausted?

If not, is there an easier way of copying them, say to a laptop?

      Thanks.

      Felix

      Re: Closing Sky + Subscription

I think when you stop your subscription to Sky, the Sky+ functions will cease to function. I have read on the forum that Sky+ continued to work for some time after the subscription was stopped, but I would not count on it.

It used to be possible to remove non encrypted broadcasts from the disk and view them on a PC. I am not sure if it is still possible with the new Sky software. Find out more here-
+Extract - free software that rips free-to-air recordings from a Sky+ hard disk

Thanks. I may give that a go.

I know at one time you could pay a reduced subscription (10 per month?) to keep the Sky + functionality with just the free channels. Does this still apply?

      Regards,

      Felix
