no signal but cant view recorded programs ?

HI All, lost the sky signal last night and suspect problem with central switches / power supply as l live in a block of appartments with a communal setup (engineer called...)

I had hoped to be able to watch recorded programs or anytime programs but unable to as the box keeps coming up with a no signal error

is it the case that without a signal I cannot watch programs on the hard disk ???

I have the standard SKY+ box installed about 3 year sold

I believe your box stores raw data and needs the satelite signal to decode this.

The box requires a lock on the Default Transponder before you can use the Sky+ facilities ( including playback ).

You should try your box on someone else's setup to make sure it's the communal system at fault. Is anybody else in the building having the same problem?

What is the Make & Model of your box?
      Panasonic TX-P50G10B, Onkyo HTS 3305, Sky+HD Thomson 4E3007 (with upgraded PSU & WD5000AVDS HDD),

Re: no signal but cant view recorded programs ?

Thanks for feedback - the main switching kit no longer has green leds lit and the red power light on one of the two similar boxes is flickering dim red the other is a steady red so suspect power supply ?

no one else in block has Sky

sorry at work so dont know model number but it seems that you do need a signal / lock to watch recorded / anytime so over to the engineer....
