Watching Sky recordings on a PC
Hello,
I have just upgraded from Sky+ to Sky+HD. There are loads of programs on my Sky+ box that I would like to view again. Is it possible if I removed the hard drive is it possible I could watch them on a lap top ?
If not I can always use the spare TV.
thanks for reading

Re: Watching Sky recordings on a PC
When the card from the Sky+ box is paired with the HD box you loose access to any recordings in the Sky+ box. You can take the HDD out and connect it to your PC but as all the Sky recordings are encrypted, you cannot play them. You can view non Sky recordings like those from BBC which are not encrypted.

Re: Watching Sky recordings on a PC
I would use Extract+ to do what Tom has suggested.
This will allow you to copy off all the programmes and select those you wish to keep & can view (i.e. not encrypted). You can then also rename the files to reflect the name of the programme or film.
Please be aware that Copy+ & Extract+ will work on the White Sky+ STB, but neither will work on the new Sky+ HD STB, so you cannot transfer the files to the new machine.
This is because of the new file system which is codenamed 'Darwin'.
Everyone is still waiting for an update to both programs to allow them to become compatible with Darwin.

Re: Watching Sky recordings on a PC
Thanks to both of you. they are only documentaries that I would like to watch again. I might try taking the drive out and have a go as they are only sat on the STB. Or wait till the repeats are shown again.
cheers
