Question Thinking about returning to Sky and have some questions

      Hi,

We are currently with Virgin Media for TV, but am thinking about returning to Sky, so I have some questions.

We already have the boxes from before so will want to use them. I have been told we will need new vieing cards.

Sky+ box (downstairs) just need to plug it all in
Sky (standard) (upstairs) again just need to plug it all in.

My questions is, if I was to buy a second sky+ box from eBay let say, then replace it with the standard box upstairs will it work, I only have the one input upstairs from the dish.

I know Sky+ need two inputs fromt he dish to watch and record another, but I am only want it to record just the one program I am watch or not to be recorded

I know I will only be able to watch one channel as I only have the one connection to the box, but will the Sky+ side work and be able to record even thought the same channel I am watching. I have only one input from the dish.

      Hope I have made sence.

      Regards,
      Garry

Re: Thinking about returning to Sky and have some questions

If you are returning after more than 12 months, why not join as a new customer?

You'd get a new Sky+ HD box and you might be able to ask the installer to fit a twin coax lead upstairs, with then intention of using your old Sky+ box upstairs.

The new box would have more capacity to record content that you wish to keep.

The only draw back would be that the HD box will automatically receive Anytime content from the HD channels. Currently Sky are allowing viewers who subscribe to both the Movie packs to view the HD movies if they don't subscribe to the HD pack, but this could change once they fix the 'bug'.

If you have a LAN connection on the back of your old Sky+ box, you may be able to receive Anytime+ content from the Internet in due course. Not all the white Sky+ boxes have a LAN connector.

Currently the Anytime+ content is limited to SD programs & films.
