Picture Mode
Hi Guys
Need some help.I recently downgraded my Sky package and on my Sky box that's not got Sky I set my Sky picture mode at 16.9 but on some programs and the T V Guide it goes back to the 14.3. mode. On the box that's got Sky everything is OK.Am I missing something in the Sky picture settings or is this the norm .Thanks in advance
Cheers

Re: Picture Mode
With my Panasonic wide-screen TV I can mimic what you are saying.
If I reset the TV if to shipping settings and watch a channel, then I change the screen to 16:9 on a 16:9 program. The pic will remain at that setting if I change channels. If I change to a channel that is broadcasting at 4:3, then initially it will display in 16:9, until I change it to 4:3.
The TV will learn and next time any channel broadcasts at 4:3, it will automatically select 4:3 instead of 16:9.
Some channels do not send the TV the correct information to allow it to automatically change it's ration, whilst others only broadcast in 16:9, these are a pain.
I have also noticed that not all TVs allow this ability to change their ratios to suite the broadcast signals.
I suspect that 14:3 is incorrect, as on mine you can only select; Wide-screen, 16:9, 14:9, 4:3, Zoom1 & Zoom2.
The idea behind this is to keep the right ratios when viewing programs. A personal hate of mine is seeing someone's face stretched sideways or extra long faces.
