sky+hd box i/p 1 no satellite msg. Got it from ebay,havent completed set up with dual feed from lnb but found that when lnb connected to i/p2 all channels are received but swap to i/p1 then get msg no sattellite signal is result.Is this a indication I have a duff box?and not worth persuing contact with sky to pay the minium ?

Thing is you can't choose which input its using for recordings. With the box not recording, whats the signal strength reading?
There is no p in Thomson.

signal strength 75% on strength and quality,besides it works aok on i/p2 using same single feed

This is perfectly normal with the HD Boxes and one feed. By default they use Feed 1 for the EPG data and Feed 2 for viewing (these switch around during normal use). In order to make it work correctly you would need to enable single feed mode:
Servies - 0 - 0 - 1 - SELECT (Ignore onscreen until sequence has been pushed on remote)
Press Down
Scroll down to single feed mode and change it to "ON"
Press green to save settings.
