      Sky rip off

I've been with Sky since Feb 1989 but as of late I'm finding it harder and harder to justify paying out good money for all the constant repeats, just how many times do we need to see Star Trek Next Gen and the blummin Simpsons.

Last month I dropped the Movies with Film4 going free and was told that I would no longer be able to record programs! What a con, I paid 200+ for my Sky+ box a few years ago for that very facility and they now want to charge me 10 a month to retain the facility. If Freeview continues to grow then Sky can stick its Sky+ service where the sun don't shine.

      Hi Simon welcome to skyuser.co.uk

Without sounding biased, i think the phrase rip off is a bit harsh, i agree the repeats are a bit too many, but so are the ones on BBC.

When i have tried to cancel anything to do with sky, i have always been offered something as a sweetener to stay with them. Perhaps you must have had a new member of staff or someone who doesn't really care, to not try and retain our custom.

The fact you cant record is a bit unfair tho i agree on that!

The programmes, in particular the movies, are re-run at different times and on different days to allow as many subscribers as possible to see them. The Simpsons remains one of the most popular TV shows ever made, and still attracts large audiences (I take your point though - not my cup of tea).

Not being allowed to record after downgrading is a little harsh, but have you actually tried to see if this is fact?

I have to agree that some things do seem to repeat alot, but with the ever increasing number of channels, I never fail to find something on that is interesting.

I am not a well to do person so my package is regraded several times a year to suit my needs. Sky+ to me is a luxury and hence i haven't got it yet.

I heed to the point about Freeview but to be honest, the quality of service through Sky is second to none and i don't think i will be changing aslong as this digibox and dish hold out.

On a final note, with regards to Star trek. I wish that Paramount wpuld make a seperate channel just for Star trek
