New viewing card sent by Sky
I have this morning replaced my viewing card as per the instructions.
All the correct channels are working fine, but the picture quality has definitely
changed.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Is there a cure?

try turning box off at mains for about 2 minutes and then switch back on box should reboot and reset
hopefully programs are clear

Re: New viewing card sent by Sky
Has the picture got darker? Is it fine on BBC1/BBC2/ITV/C4 but on any other channel it flicks to a darker image when you change onto it?
I changed our card a couple of weeks ago, maybe slightly less, and since then the non-terrestrial channels have been dark, and during dark scenes it's virtually unbearable with the blacks being totally washed out.
I haven't changed anything else other than the Sky+ viewing card, but I'm not sure how the card could affect the picture quality. It's driving me nuts though.

Re: New viewing card sent by Sky
What confuses me most is that it's perfectly fine for BBC1/BBC2/ITV/C4.
It's only the other channels which have issues.
I've checked the connections and they're all firm. There was one post I found from a couple of years back where someone had a new card and had issues recording the picture on their VCR, and it turned out that a replacement card fixed it, so there's at least one instance of a card affecting the picture output - but that was probably macrovision related.
I've powered the box off and left it for 15 minutes and I'm about to go and check to see if that's made any difference. I was mainly interested in whether the OP gets the same quality issue (dark picture) or something else.

Re: New viewing card sent by Sky
Some more info.
With the channel set to BBC1 it looks fine, type in another channel number and it flicks to that channel. For half a second, the sky channel banner is bright and the picture looks okay, and then it almost 'steps' right by a few mm and dims (including the sky channel banner).

Re: New viewing card sent by Sky
Is it possible that you've disturbed the connections at the back of the box when you replaced the card ? The card should not affect the quality of the picture. You can prove it by removing the card - some channels should still be viewable with no card in the slot.
