Nothing much really, it is not fully connected, some have reported you can use it to charge USB players, but I have never tried it.

This is not recommended. Sky will NOT WARRANTY/REPLACE ANY FAULTY STB, found to have anything connected to it. However it does output voltage! I NEVER use it for charging xbox headset or my mobile!!

I dont know if this is true or not, however they would have a pretty hard time proving that anything had been connected to it, unless you were daft enough to leave it connected when the Sky man visits.

No worries mate, I wasnt disagreeing with you. In this day and age I think we all have enough usb ports in the house for our needs without having to resort to the one on the back of the stb.

That's a bit harsh, how are you supposed to use it if you have nothing connected to it.
I take it you mean the USB ports? I can find nothing barring their use in the Sky+ User Manual, in fact the only mention is in the Specifications list. Is there something I am missing?

It would be useful if you could use them to view pictures, which you can do on some PVRs. I wonder if they could be enabled with a firmware update? It seems pointless and an unnecessary expense to include them at all if they cannot be activated.

They're "for future expansion". Just like the ethernet connection.

Does the same thing apply to the USB port next to the Sky card under the flap?
