Major problems with sky+ box
Having major issues with my sky+ box have tried the fix it suggests to no avail so rang sky up all they did is go through what I had already done
They said that they had done all they could do over the phone and that I would need an engineer yep you guessed £65 told them i wasnt paying that as I was paying for a service that doesnt work so they sadi I could pay £8 a month and that would cover everything ie sky+ box and multi room, box remote control, phone line etc: said no not paying for nothing I would rather cancel everything with sky than pay for an engineer to come and tell me my box is fubared and give me another that would then be covered by a 12 month guarntee, so now i am in a pickle do i carry through with my threat and loose my sky or can i just cut out the middle man and buy another sky+ box and do a simple swop

Yep, you can buy one then ring Sky to get the card paired.

The charge of £65 to repair/replace whatever is needed is in my opinion a fair charge. The replacement if required will come with three months warranty.
Chances are you will pay more than this for a used receiver and that will come with no warranty and may not even be the fault.
If you want and use the serivce, you should be prepared to pay for it's upkeep, if you don't then same your £££'s and leave, only you can decide that one.
