      Sky's email help system

Does anyone know how long it takes them to respond to a 'contact us' posted through their pages? It is about 22 hours since I sent them a query and nothing except an auto-responder(so I know they got it). It is a pretty poor system, crashed 2 out of 3 times (I am in Spain so cannot just call them).

What system are you talking about? If it is Sky TV then I would be paitent, you shouldn't be getting it anyway.

That is the issue really ... I don't want it, I want them to stop taking the money while I am in Spain. They have agreed to do it before I left but I waited until I got here, thinking I could watch the Ashes in Skyplayer -- without realising the paucity of their technical solution. It is useless.

Are you in contract and how long are you in spain for?

"Edit" - Sorry that seemed a bit nosey? I was thinking if you are only away for a month or two Sky may not be happy ceasing it and then putting it back on when you return if you are still under contract.

I have had Sky for years. The guy I spoke too before I left seemed quite okay about it and put a note on my account. He said they would stop taking payments until I phoned them to say I had got back.

Needless to say they renaged on their promise and delayed for as long as possible.

It took them from 21/7 at 11:23 (automated email acknowledgement) until 23/7 at 17:56 to reply and say that they could reduce my package to a minimum. I replied at 18:42 and it then took them until 27/7 at 15:54 to respond. What a joke.

Anyway I cancelled my DD and told them I was leaving.

The quickest way to cancel is to contact them to say "Hi, My account number is xxxxx and I'm living in Spain. I've got some reception problems and I need you to help."

I guarantee your account will be closed within 5 minutes!
