Sky Newbie - basic questions
Hi
I got Sky for the first time yesterday and am looking for some advice.
1. How do you pick your favourites?
2. What is on interactive? just games? is it free?
3. When you set a reminder must you have the tv turned on to be reminded? i.e. i assume it wont turn the tv on for you if you switched it off!
Any other tips on functionality would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Sky Newbie - basic questions
Welcome to the forums
You've come to the right place
Are you normal sky or Sky HD? (have you got the EPG with the mini-tv?). The process will be something similar to:
- Press Service
- Go to Favourites option
- Scroll through toyour desired channel and press the 'favourite coloured button' (yellow on the new EPG)
- once you have finished select your channels press save (green on the new EPG).
It's anything and everything. Interactive can be on channels and will give you the option to view more content (ie you can choose which court at wimbledon you want to watch). Others are via the 'Interactive' button on the remote where you can access your sky account, play games etc. Some are free other not, but you do get warned if it will cost you.
Correct, a pop up appears on screen to remind you but nothing more. But if you have Sky+ or SkyHD, just set the programme to record and then watch it at your leisure whether it be 5 mins after it starts or 5 days!!!.

"have you got the EPG with the mini-tv" - not sure what that is! i have sky plus... not HD.
OK - ta - think i know where to find favourites now.
Some more quesitons...
1. i - shows you a brief synopsis of the current programme. can you use i to see what the next programme is about?
2. How do you save live pause recordings to sky planner?
3. What are "instant rewind recordings" - and then same as q2.
4. How easy is it to use email? can i add my hotmail account?

Hi I think you have just answered your own question. As Smithy99 said the thing to do is have a look through your manual then any further question you might have ask and they should be answered

Re: Sky Newbie - basic questions
Only if you're in the TV guide.
Press select to bring up the now and next banner. Then press Record. It will save everything you've been watching since turning on that channel, Or the program. Whichever comes first. So if you were started watching a channel at 5:50pm, and a program came on at 6. You pressed the record at 6:15 it would record the program that started at 6 and not the 10 minutes prior.

Not sure what you're asking here. Using email is really good if you have the internet. You type in someone elses email address, type the message you want sending. ( You're not limited to how many characters you send like text messaging. ) And then press send...
If you could ask question 4 with a bit more detail i might be able to give you a better answer mate.
Damn Steve beat me to it... :'(
About the backup button.. As you have Sky+, the backup will not go back to the previous watched channel. You have to find it again and watch it.I think the new HD EPG has that feature added though,
