Help for : replacing Sky box by Sky PLUS box
Hi, (I am totally new to sky world so sorry if I sound v.dummy)
I have recently moved house and found a working sky box. The ex landlord has cancelled the subscription which will be stopping in a months time. Will I be able to watch any channels after subscription cancelled ?
Also, I am planning to buy sky + box so I can record programs. Will that be easy to replace the sky box, Do I have to call engineer from sky for that or Will be just plug and play and I can simply install it.
Please help.
Thanks.
Sam
p.s. I have got sky card of the ex owner.

Re: Help for : replacing Sky box by Sky PLUS box
Once the card has been cancelled you will continue to receive the Free to Air channels.
Fitting a Sky+ receiver shouldn't be a problem although you will need two feeds from the dish so may have to buy a quad LNB and run in the extra cable.
You cannot use the record functions of the Sky+ receiver unless you subscribe to Sky, either £10 for the record functions, or £18 for the minimum subscription which will include the record functions.

Smith99 Thanks so much. That is really really helpful.
Shame that I cannot record channels without any sky subscription.
But I am happy as long as I can get free to air.
Cheers

Re: Help for : replacing Sky box by Sky PLUS box
You're welcome, it is a shame that the Sky+ ceases to be able to record once it does not have a subscripton but I suppose Sky want people to have an incentive not to leave now that there ame many more FTA channels.
