Question Latest Sky + box model number

      Hi everyone,

After yet another call to Sky reporting problems with my replacement Sky + box I will be getting another receiver on Monday afternoon.

I have had 5 receivers since Xmas eve just to having faults. I found out last time that all the replacements have been refurbished.

The current + receiver I have does not support Sky Anytime, I was told by Sky that this model is too old to support this!!

Can someone please let me know what the latest Sky + model is so I can check when the engineer installs it? It will be a great help.

      Thank you

      Al

Let me guess, your on what is know as the Thompson roundabout. What where the makes of the boxes that went faulty?
This is really not good customer service from sky is it?
You need to be assertive and let sky customer service know the hassle you have endured with these duff boxes. Demand a new box and compensation for loss of viewing and inconvenience.
If it helps draft a letter to the head of customer service.

      Thank you for the replies

Yes, I believe I am on the Thomson roundabout. Interesting you say that as I think all the boxes I have had are by Thomson!

When the Engineer comes out to my house on Monday, what box should I be expecting if it is new?

Thanks for the address; I will definitely be writing a letter of complaint.

Re: Latest Sky + box model number

      Your welcome
Sadly all to many sky TV users are not aware of the problems that particular sky boxes cause. It is well documented about the Thompson boxes suffering PSU problems and other things.
To most people its just an other sky box. They don't know who the manufacturer is, not do they care by en large. Sky comes and does a swap out and leaves you yet an other Thompson for you to have the same problem a week later if your lucky. Hence the round about analogy.

Any box barring a Thompson. Ask for Pace. Samsung or an Amstrad at a push.
When the engineer calls make it very clear that you will not accept a Thompson box. Tell him how many you have had and refuse point blank to accept yet another Thompson box.
Perhaps ring sky customer service and give them hell and tell them no way will you accept an other Thompson box. Explain the history and your experience with them.
Get that email off too. Again go into to detail about the hassle and inconvenience you have had. Be polite yet be assertive. If sky want to retain you as a customer, then they need to resolve the problem for you and pretty damn quick.

Do keep us informed and good luck

      Hi Joss,

      Update on Sky box.

Thank you for the advice on the bl00dy annoying faulty Thompson boxes.

The engineer came to my house with a Thompson replacement box in his hand. In not so many words I told him I was not excepting it and wanted an Amstrad or Pace. I explained the reason and he completely understood and brought back an Amstrad from his van.

This was Monday afternoon and up to now (touch wood) it has not skipped a beat!

Thanks again for your help and advice

      Al
