      Phone line interference

      Since having Sky+ installed, there has been terrible interference on our phone line. Sky say its a BT issue, and of course BT say its a Sky issue!. Its the sort of situation where you want to arrange an engineers visit with both at the same time, introduce them to each other, and go to the pub while they sort it. Has anyone come across this interference, and how can it be resolved, because making a phone call is a nightmare!

      Do you have the Sky+ box plugged into a filter? The thing that looks like a filter supplied by Sky fitters is not a filter it is a splitter, you must use a filter. If you are using one, try another one.

      Check the sky installed extension lead. I had loads of trouble with noise till I narrowed the problem down to the 2 way with extension lead fitted by sky installer .
      Poor connection and slightest movement throw the noise ratios right out and gave noise on voice line. These 2way extension leads just push together and are easy to open up. Open it up and lift up the clear bits where the wires go (make note of which wire goes where), trim a bit off the wires reinsert and make sure the clear bits are pushed down firmly. Put cover back on, lift phone receiver press a number key and listen whilst you jiggle the extension wire about, if you can`t here any noise then job done.
