Sky Box Office - "Insufficient credit on viewing card"

Hiya, have been having problems with my Sky account. Have gone to order films from Sky Box Office, only to be met with the message "Insufficient credit on viewing card".

Last year, I have ordered and paid for Boxing and films on Box Office.

I've phoned Sky about it, who proceed to take over 30 minutes at my expense of a phone call, whilst they test the line, send settings through to my Sky+ box, whilst I'm on the phone. Then am told that it is all sorted, and will take up to 6 hours to update at the box.

However, this has happened the last 3 times I've tried to order a film. With Sky not having sorted it out.

I pay by Direct Debit and have not had a problem with Sky taking the money from my account, nor do I have insufficient funds in my account to allow Sky to take for whatever film I wish to order.

Sky then have the cheek to offer to buy the film whilst on the phone, at the cost of an additional 1. Now that just takes the mick!!!

Anyone got any ideas what could possibly be causing this? And help put an end to this?

Thanks a lot, I'll give it a go then

They don't half wind me up, as each time I've rang, I've been on the phone for at least half an hour, only to be told that it is now sorted out When in fact it isn't. So fingers crossed a callback can rectify the problem.

Well I tried that and it didn't work

Tried adding the prefix of 1470 as the prefix was blank, but it wouldn't perform a callback. It tried to do the callback, and then failed. With the message "Prefix Update Failed".

      Any other ideas?

Sounds like the modem in your box (or the line to it) has packed up. Go to Services, System Setup, System test. Does it report a telephone line connected?

Did that last night, and it says that it is connected. However, if I use the land line and do the test it still says connected, whereas I thought that it should say engaged???

Also did a new system set up, went through all the settings, and it wouldn't do a call back. Just came back as failed.

      What do you reckon then?

My guess is the box modem has packed in. Happened to me a couple of years ago.

To be sure though, plug the box into a socket you know works using a telephone cable you know is OK (that will eliminate a faulty socket/cable) and try another callback.

      The box checks for noise?

No, I doubt that. I'd have thought it will check for a voltage difference across the circuit.
