You would have to play the programme back on the STB and then record in real time via a DVD recorder or TV capture card.

if it was a FTA channel, then you can copy the program to PC using SkyCopy+ as a data transfer.

+Extract - free software that rips free-to-air recordings from a Sky+ hard disk

Thanks for the quick replys but not sure of how to do either of above and my pc is a long way from my sky + box.
The programme was on BBC4 I think.
My my pc doesn't have the necessary card either but would be happy to buy one if it would do the job just the distance to the box is the problem and what leads would i need ?

What size HDD have you got in teh sky+ box, aren't you better just to set the 'KEEP' option on it and have it stored permanently on the sky+box?

I know what you are saying but the box is being moved upstairs to my sons bedroom when I get SKY HD fitted and I just didn't want to lose a couple of things I had recorded plus I have a couple of mates who would love a copy of that weller documentary.
Seems like getting a cheap dvd recorder and a scartlead the best way to go then what do you reckon.

Re: Copy Sky + recorded program to a DVD

If you are going to do a lot of this sort of thing you can get an external video capture card have that bext to your sky box and then connect it to your PC with a 5m long USB cable.

But for a one off the DVD player is most likely the cheaper option.

Re: Copy Sky + recorded program to a DVD

If I was to go the DVD player route is it just a case of 1 scart lead to be fitted between the SKY + box and the dvd recorder. any other leads required ? or connections

      Thanks again

Re: Copy Sky + recorded program to a DVD

You will need a scart to go from the VCR out of the Sky box and then a scart to go from the DVD recorder to the TV to allow you to watch DVD's.

Should you also want to record terrestial TV you will need to run the aerial into the DVD recorder and then out to the Sky receiver.
