Sky+ Multiple Problems
Ive read through some of the other threads but cant seem to find the exact problem anywhere so here goes!
Ive had Sky+ box for around 4 years (PACE) and the problems seem to be more and more frequent:
1. The box was switching to standby automatically when we were watching TV, no warning message, most of the time we were also in the process of recording something. Hence the recording failed completely or when I finally got the box switched back on, the recording started but all the program prior to the auto standby was lost. Ive switched off the Auto standby function which isnt very green of me but I see there has been an update recently that may have caused this problem?
2. I would say that something like 95% of the recordings we are now making have some errors. The picture either freezes for 10-15 seconds, pixelates and then jumps forward or more frequently, we are now getting messages to say that the recording was interrupted by loss of signal. Again, missing sections of the program and jumping forward, which is very annoying if its a film or sports program.
I know the box wont be covered under warranty but is this a box problem or an issue caused by Sky? Im planning on calling them but would appreciate some ammunition first! Dont fancy paying £65 call out so will certainly try the long standing customer argument!

Re: Sky+ Multiple Problems
To be honest if you have had 4 years service out of a box then you have done very well. Phone Sky, pay the £63 and get a re-con box and possibly a disk check. Chances are you will get a more up to date box. It has cost you a lot less than their extortionate 'warranty' scheme

Re: Sky+ Multiple Problems
Sounds like the hard drive has errors on it, the £65 for Sky to call and swap the box is the easiest way to go, otherwise a new drive, easy swap but it will cost around the same.
At least with Sky's route you should get a newer box.
