Sky + box for existing Sky subscribers
Hi
I've been a Sky customer for about 12 years, up until I moved house last year and left them. I rejoined Sky a couple of months later, in my new house, under my partners name. She has been with Sky for about 2 years.
We would like to upgrade to a Sky+ box, but I begrudge paying the £159
(£99 + £60 installation) that they charge. Can anyone advise me of the latest ways and means of reducing this charge, by way of a phone call to Sky? I am prepared to pay up to £99, but no more really. Previous posts on this forum mention getting it for £49. Is that still possible?
I feel that having been with Sky for so long, I should be able to get a discount. I would also like to get the whole Sky package, with broadband, phone etc. but broadband is not quite yet available in my area. Could I use that as a bargaining tool to get the charge reduced or dropped?
Can anyone help please.
Thanks

Re: Sky + box for existing Sky subscribers
You could phone Sky and plead your case and see what they come up with. However the point of Sky offering cheap deals to new customers is to get them signed up and thereby increase the numbers that take Sky. It is not intended to be used to reward existing customers. But ring anyway and see what they say.

Re: Sky + box for existing Sky subscribers
I hate having to say this, but it seems to me that YOU are not a sky customer and didn't go back to them! The account is 'in your partners' name as you say, so therefor YOU have no account with them! ( I highlight YOU not as a criticism, just to define you from your partner ) however I wish you luck and hope it goes your way.

Re: Sky + box for existing Sky subscribers
Thanks for the reply. The only reason our existing Sky account is in my partners name is that when we moved from her house to what is now our house, it was easier to transfer her account.
Anyway, I rang Sky today and got the Sky+ box including installation for £79. I did go through to cancellations though.
Cheers

Re: Sky + box for existing Sky subscribers
I called up sky last Sunday and did the same process as you and got the same package as you for the same price.
Must be a special cancellation offer they are doing at the moment.
