Will Sky+ work after I cancel subscription?

I noticed in Tesco last night that you can now buy a Sky+HD box with no ongoing contract for £299. this led me to think that now I am 3 years donw the line with a Sky+ box and looking at FreeSat, could I cancel my contract, get the freesat equivalent package (i.e. pay nothing for 200 odd "free" channels) and keep the Sky+ box, and the features that go with it?

Essentially can I be a FreeSat sky customer with my current kit. I have no need for HD yet, but will do in the future once we upgrade our TV (IF the bugger dies...and it doesn't look likely!).

      Thoughts?

      Thanks!

If you want to be able to use the Sky+ record functions you will need to pay £10 per month for them or susbscribe to the minimum package.

That may not be true for the £299 HD deal but nobody's 100% sure yet.
