    Which Hard Drive?

This is a discussion on Which Hard Drive? within the Sky+ forums, part of the Sky & Sky+ TV category; That's the problem, struggling to find a rpm lower than 7200. Any ideas?...

yep you will struggle to find an 5400rpm. A 7200 will work. IIRC a HDD with a 4Mb cache is better on the older Sky+ boxes too, but most HDD are at least 8Mb cache now.

      Re: Which Hard Drive?

the max HDD that a Sky+ can cope with is 270Gb (yes 270 not 250), you can out a bigger one on, but it will only ever use the first 270Gb and the rest will be wasted.

That is the exact model you are after tho as it;s what i use (at least the 250Gb version)

      Re: Which Hard Drive?

A quick thanks to everyone who advised me here, I received the hard drive next day (they are very efficient) and fitted it into his box today (only took 5mins) although I did have to go and get a security driver set.

      All working fine.

Thanks again all, and I would highly recommend Ultratec.co.uk - Hard Disk, Tape Backup & Server Spare Parts Specialists if you need an upgrade.
