Noisey Box's

I am on my 3rd Sky+ box since May this year, having had various HDD problems and failed recordings.

The box we have at the moment is very noisey, is that normal? When watching quiet scenes, you can hear a buzzing sound (even when the box is off). It doesn't disturb you when wathcing an action flick, but when its normal TV it can be quite annoying.

When I rang Sky to complain, they said there was nothing they could do as its normal HDD noise and if it can't be heard over the TV they won't help.

The box is a Thomson Model number from the Sky Services is 127k148. We seem to get the same type of box every replacement. I thought my Xbox 360 was loud, but this is just as bad.

If it is noisier than an Xbox, I would say it is not right. Ring Sky and get them to swap it, and remember to tell them the noise is too loud. When the installer comes out, have a word with him and tell him your history. Hopefully he will change for a different model.

Its getting really annoying, as this is my 3rd box and everytime they swap, I lose all my programs (currentlt on 3 pages as we've had no time to catch up)

I think I'll just close the cabinet door for now until we have caught up.

What other models are quiet?
