Question Sky+ will not go INTO standby - wont record

Can anyone help? About a week ago, my Sky+ started acting up. At first I noticed that on a few recorded progammes the recording would suddenly skip forward 4 or 5 minutes. Shortly after, the box would no longer record - I get either 'clashed' (no obvious clash) or 'failed' (in info it tells me that the cause is a power cut - obviously no power cut).
So I dragged out my instruction book today, and the first thing I notied was that the box will not go into standby - ie the green light is on at all times, although the box can be turned on and off with the remote. My intention was to start with a reboot, but my instruction book makes it clear that it must be in standby before disconnnecting from the mains.

      Any ideas, experience, theories?

Sounds like a hard disk problem to me. Yu can pull the plug and try a reset and updating but I don't think it will sort it.

On the bright side, it only takes 10 mins to put another hard drive in you may as well put a bigger on in too 500Gb.
