Sky+ Anytime not showing up on older box...
Hi all, I've got one of the older style Sky+ boxes (see picture here: http://www.new-channels.com/images/P...ropped_400.gif)
and was wondering whether it was compatible with Sky Anytime. I noticed it doesn't appear in my Planner and wondered whether a firmware update would upgrade and fix this?
If not, what are the differences between the new and old box and is there any chance Sky would give me a free upgrade?
Thanks for any help.

Re: Sky+ Anytime not showing up on older box...
The older SKy+ boxes are not compatible with sky anytime and at one point there was an offer for exisitng sky+ customers to buy a newer box but it was not for free.
The only difference, I believe, is the gubbings inside the box. The newer boxes can support anytime and the older one can't.------
Advice given is in good faith and if taken is done so at your own risk. If in doubt consult a qualified person.

As i understand it, Anytime uses space reserved for its purpose, it isnt really stealing your space . I do agree though the content does leave a lot to be desired

Sky said they were going to contact all the people with older boxes and offer them a free swap so it sounds like you fell though the cracks there.
The "anytime" partition is the one the box uses for the live pause and caching of the 2 feeds so it cannot be used for recording anyway.
If you have Sky movies, Anytime usually has that weeks premeirs onto the box by the Thursday before their showing.
We tend to find quite a bit on anytime that is worth watching, but they do put a lot of documentaries on that I miss.I'm a PC, and Windows 7 Backup saved my sanity when BitDefender imploded !!!

Did they?
We want as many of you to enjoy the Anytime on TV service as possible. For those customers with Sky boxes that are not compatible with Anytime on TV, we will be offering you the opportunity to upgrade to a compatible Sky+ box or Sky HD box at a discounted price.~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~

Re: Sky+ Anytime not showing up on older box...
That's one hell of a partition though.
My HD box has a 300Gb hard drive, half of that is reserved for Anytime which I don't want or use, there is no need to have 150Gb for the pause function, I certainly didn't have that much on my original Sky+ anyway
I would much rather have the full hard drive for things I want to record and not for what Sky want me to get
Does anyone here use Anytime? What is the point?Last edited by NewsreadeR; 08-08-08 at 03:23 PM. Reason: fixed quote tags
