sky + can't watch recorded programmes or record new!!
Hi
Hoping for some help
This morning I went to watch a recorded programme and ot won't let me select it then I noticed it dodn't record a programme last night.
When I called sky they told me they would do somthing there end but I did not understand what??
Also it will not let me live pause programmes so to me it sounds like my harddrive is broken?? does that sound correct to you?
Anyway sky told me to leave iot 4 hours then check??
I have only had my box for 8 months so if my harddrive is broke should I be initiled to a new one and face no extra costs?

Could be the hard drive (especially if the box is in a cabinet/doesn't have adequate cooling) but it could also be a data corruption problem.
First thing would be to try the housekeeping function.
This is in a "hidden" menu which can be found by pressing Services, 4, 0, 1 then select on the remote (ignore what's happening on the screen when you press this sequence). This will bring up the engineers menu and you'll find the housekeeping function there.
Select it and the box will go into standby for a few minutes and won't respond to any key presses. Eventually it will come back on or respond to the power button on the remote/front panel.
With housekeeping your existing recordings should be fine. There is another option in the menu which will also wipe the disk so take care which you choose.
