      Using Old Sky+

      Hi all,
sorry if this is a repeat!
Got a new sky+ installed today.
My boys have lots of DRWho recorded on the old box.
The engineer said i could use the old box like a video player and simply watch the contents held on the kids' tv if i set it up via scart.
Done this but i cannot access the tv planner cos the the message says the box is not receiving a satelite signal.
      Anyway around this?

TBH honest that is out of order you do need a signal, would suggest ringing up sky and telling them that the engineer that installed your new sky box told you wrongly about being able to use the old box unconnected, suggest you tell them to get the engineer out again and install your old box foc in another room which if you'd asked he would have done that for you.

not only do you need a sat signal, but you also need the appropriate viewing card and subscription (if applicable) that the progs were originally recorded with.
