      Sky + stuttering etc

      Hi Guys,

      I have an Amstrad A1S0510 Sky + box with version number 4F2001
      Operating system version: 1.31B03
      EPG software version 5.03.g

      When I record certain channels e.g Dave and The History channel and play the recording or watch the channel in the buffer, it stutters, losing the sound for a brief second or sometimes it skips forward a few seconds. It has been getting worse the last few weeks. Also, some recordings just won't start playback and I have to delete them.

      Does anyone know what the problem could be and if it is possible to resolve? I have seen online that I could do a full system reset in the installer set up menu but I don't want to do anything rash that could screw the box up.

      Is the box under warrenty? Sounds like the hdd may be failing. Worth ringing Sky up if under it is under warrenty.

      It's not under warranty unfortunately.

      If it is the hard disk, replacement is easy and cheap.

      I find it odd that it could be the hard disk as it only happens on certain channels, most channels are ok.

      I have done a full system reset and did a few test recordings on the usual channels which gave me problems. So far, they are playing back perfectly. It's early days though.
