    Faulty Sky+ Box

      Faulty Sky+ Box

      Can anyone help please?

      I suspect I may need a replacement box but thought I would ask the experts first.

      Quite frequently I am getting what sounds like a screeching noise from the box (more so when watching recordings) followed by the picture freezing and the box switching itself to standby.

      Disconnecting the box for a short while seems to sort the problem temporarily.

      Also on occasions where recordings are set I am finding I am getting 'power cut' or 'failed' messages so I suspect the same as above is happening.

      My questions are -

      1. Is there anything I can do to try and sort the problem myself suchas system resets?
      2. If I have to call SKY and pay the 65 call out does anyone know the cost of a replacement box on top of that?
      3. Would I be better trying to find someone that does repairs/replacements without going directly through SKY?

      I apologise if this has been covered previously (I am sure it must have been) but I need to get it sorted soon due to an impatient other half!! (Missing Loose Women is a fate worse than death to me!!!)

      Faulty power supply is common with the Thomson boxes. Easy to replace.
