Recording whole programmes, even though only recorded half?

I have had Sky+ for about a year and recently I have noticed that a couple of times I have started recording programmes half way through, then when going to watch the programme it has recorded the whole programme from start to finish, how is this done?

Everything you watch on a Sky+ or HD box is first cached onto the reserved part of the hard drive to enable the live rewind.

I have mine set so it will cache an hour of TV, it means if you have been watching a channel and decide to go to bed and hit the record key it will take all the cached information from the disc up to when the programme started, or up to when it started caching if the programme is longer or you changed channel.

It's been quite useful in the past if my wife has come home and said "I haven't seen this" and at least you won't get shouted at forgetting to record it as it picks it all up.
I'm a PC, and Windows 7 Backup saved my sanity when BitDefender imploded !!!

Cool, thanks that makes sense. I thought it might be something to do with using the +1 channels, but that will come in handy in the future.
