Transfering DVD's to Sky+
My little girl has a few favorite DVD's that eventually become unplayable because of scratches, so I have to back them up just in case. So I was wondering if it is possible to record DVD's to Sky+ so she can select and play them from the planner menu?

Re: Transfering DVD's to Sky+
Not easily, I would imagine it could be done but I think it may involve removing the hard drive from the + box and connecting it to a pc. The dvd would have to be converted to the same video format that the + box uses and the files transfered to the drive. I think you would lose the menus etc from the dvd. Someone may know of an easier way but thats the only way I can think of that may work.

Re: Transfering DVD's to Sky+
Its definitely not possible. The Sky+ and HD boxes are only designed to take the satellite signal, demodulate, demultiplex and then record the required channel(s), using the EPG info to populate the planner guide. The DVD bitrate is a higher bit rate so you wouldnt get much onto a Sky+ box if you could do it.
There is no p in Thomson.

Ok, shame really but thanks for the replies
What about a normal HDD player? Would it be possible to copy DVD's onto that?
