Why does Sky box have RF in/out?

Apologies for the likely stupidity of the question but I don't understand why the Sky+ box has RF in and out connections. Why would one wish to connect an aerial to the Sky+ box, or pass the aerial through it? I would have thought it would be better to route the aerial directly to the television for terrestrial analogue and digital (my TV has a built in digital tuner).

It works in the same way as a VCR, the selected Sky channel is added to the RF signal allowing you to view Sky via a spare RF channel, not much used any more as most will connect via scart. The RF 2 output will route this signal to another TV, and using a magic eye you can also control the Sky box remotely.

Its also handy to put your existing Terrestrial Aerial lead in Sky Box, if you want to view Terrestrial TV, whilst you are recording 2 channels on SKY/HD Plus at same time -- to do this press TV & Backup on Sky remote and select channels --ie 1,2,3 or 4.
