      extending cables for sky+ problem

We have had a new wall mounted plasma tv and need to extend the cables for the sky+box.
Bought two pieces of longer cabling, joined them up to the original cables with the proper fittings, hey presto - no signal being recieved. Put back the short cables again, working normally.
Have re-done them over and over without success, including
using one original short cable with one extended cable, it works then, but not with both extended cables at the same time. Have swapped them over etc to check for faulty cables/connectors etc but sky will still only work with one of each connected. As soon as I connect the other extension to the box, it looses signal again.

Any ideas please? its driving us crazy.

To extend the sat cables you should have
      (1) sufficent length of CT100 cable (from your local sat shop)
      (2) 4 F connectors

      (3) 2 in-line F connector couplers.

Fit the F connectors to the two extensions and make sure there are no short circuits between the inner and the outer screen. then use the couplers to connect to the orignal cable and all should be well.

      Thank you for your reply.

I have done everything you have suggested and re-done it over and over, but still have no signal using both extended cables. Only have a signal using one extended and one original short cable.

The only query I have is about the short circuits? How do you prevent the short circuits please?

When you fit the F connectors to the cable ends, be carefull to pull back the screen over the outer cover of the cable before you screw on the connector.

also make sure non of the copper braiding is touching the central core,or stinger.Look closely, the braiding is so fine it' easy to miss.
