Sky+ Recording Problems - Loss of Signal
A couple of recent (related) problems with Sky+ recording:
1. Sometimes when a linked program is recording, no other channels are available (loss of signal).
2. Other times the channel that is being recorded is unavailable due to loss of signal and the recording fails. All other channels are available when this happens.
Recordings seem to fail about 100% of the time now.
It may have something to do with input 2 in the back of the box. I recently disconnected it (bad idea - I thought it was the old cable wire). I hooked it up again but perhaps not correctly. Why are there two inputs anyway?
Suggestions on getting this working again?
Thanks.

Re: Sky+ Recording Problems - Loss of Signal
Go to SERVICES/SYSTEM SETUP/SIGNAL TEST, you should have the same, or very similar, signal strength and quality showing for both connections. If not, chances are you need to disconnect the second feed and check it again. If you've a push fit F connector, unscrew it and make sure it's fully seated. Sometimes it's merely a case that the screw isn't tight enough at the back of the box.
There's twin tuners in the box and they pick signals from different parts of the satellite bandwidth available, setting a recording with a single lead will work, but if the programme is on a different transponder, it'll always fail - think that's the right terminology......My old box worked fine on a single feed, but only if you sat and waited for the programme to actually begin before hitting "record" and series link was never successful with it.Last edited by greyrider; 22-01-08 at 10:56 AM. Re: Sky+ Recording Problems - Loss of Signal
You have a quad LNB on the dish which feeds the STB,You need 2 inputs & 2 feeds from the dish because the LNB tunes to the frequency of the channel you are watching or recording. All programmes go thru to a Hard Drive first so if the recordings are all failing, then the Hard Drive is buggered & the is nowt you can do.A full system reset might cure it temporarily but I doubt it.The second feed is the main recording feed.
That's basicaly it from what I can remember from my Sky installers course.
