Question Shiny Happy New User - Advice Please

Hi there, I am getting Sky + installed next week I have normal sky now with a dish at the side of my house.

Is there anything I should be aware of or ask the engineer to do. I remember reading somewhere there was a "better" box to try and get.

Any advice you could give me would be much appreciated.

      Thanks

      xxxdarlingxxx

Sky+ is an excellent piece of equipment which i feel makes recording tv as easy as pie. You have the added bonus of recording one channel whilst watching another. It also inccludes Sky anytime which downloads programmes for you watch at later date. Although i have to say , and its a small critiscm that the content on anytime is not very good, unless of course you like Childrens channels

If possible try and get a Pace box. From what I read on other forums and elsewhere it seems to be the best and most reliable of the ones available followed by Thompson and then Amstrad.

When the engineer rings to tell you when he is coming just ask him if he can put a Pace box on one side for you. Of course a cup of coffee and a biscuit or two might help as well.

not sure if they still do, but when i had my sky plus put in the engineer was not from "Sky" but subcontracted, because of this he did say he was only given enough boxes for the days work, he did say if a "proper" sky engineer did come round (they have the sky livery on there vans) they would normally have anywhere up to a weeks supply of diff boxes in the van
