Sky+ TV auto format issue
Hi there - I wonder whether anyone can help with a picture format problem I have.
I have a Sony KDL 32v2000 & a Thomson Sky+ box - however I am unable to get the picture to auto format from 4:3 to 16:9 & vice versa.
I have followed the set up on the TV as shown in the manual & it does work when using the TV internal digital service.
Any advice would be great.
Many thanks
Woody

Re: Sky+ TV auto format issue
it sure was mate, just hope we aint used up all our goals for the next few games.
Okay - have you got a fully wired scart lead from the sky box to TV (cheaper scarts don't have all 21 pins connected and therefore the widescreen switching pin may not be connected).

Re: Sky+ TV auto format issue
I'm sure the goals will still keep coming as long as he does not tinker too much.
I have recently changed the scart lead to a gold plated lead but did get in the sale. Is there any way of telling how good it is????
I have noticed that if I switch from the TV in built digital to SKY+ via AV1 it defaults to 4:3 but does not switch to widescreen when moving from say Sky sports news to Sky sports 1.

Re: Sky+ TV auto format issue
You can only tell if you can undo the connector to which pins actually have a wire connected to it.
When you switch over, try pressing the Sky button thnen the TV button, then the Sky button and see if that tricks the switch over.

Re: Sky+ TV auto format issue
unfortunately still no joy.
I will consider trying a more scart lead but can you tell from the packaging if all the pins are connected??

Re: Sky+ TV auto format issue
The package may say 'fully wired', but if it doesn't it doesn;t mean that it isnt.
YOu can get cheap fully wired scarts. If the scart is an RGB scart, then its safe to safe it is a fully wired one too.
Try making sure the scart is fully pushed in at both the box and TV as this could also be the problem. Scarts can sometimes be a little fiddly to push fully into the sockets or can come loose if they are heavy scart cables.
