      Upgrading to Sky+

      I may have asked this question before, so apologies to any who responded to a previous thread. What is the 'best or most reliable way' to upgrade to Sky+. I am registered disabled, as is my wife, so with the best will in the world, we can give little assistance to installers. Our original Sky installation was done about 8 years ago and the installer who was very determined and helpful had to throw the cable over the roof from the aerial at the back to the entry point at the front. He managed it at the third go. Would it be better to rely on whoever Sky sends or should we try and get it done by an independent installer? And what about costs? Sorry to sound pathetic but disabilities can weaken one's confidence in action taking and decision making. We live in West London.

      Any installer worth his salt could use the existing cable to pull a twin core over the roof with very little effort. However, many of Sky's installers seem to be infested with the 'jobsworth' bug, which does not permit them to anything out of the ordinary. The best thing you can do is phone 08705 66 33 33, which is the number of the Accessibility team, and explain your difficulties to them. From what I have heard they are very understanding.
