I had a new floor last week and the lead from my phone point to my sky box has gone! Do I only lose the interactive services or will I lose updates or anything else?

You will only lose things that need to dial-up like PPV and PIN changes.
If you have Multi-room then you have to have it connected or if your contract is less than 12 months old.
I thinks that pretty much it.
Updates are done via the dish.
