cost of sky plus
hi there,Ive just tried to upgrade to sky plus,I am a sky user of at least 10 years with full package, sky talk and broadband. The salesman said that with my reward for taking it all sky+ would cost me £123 instead of £179.You must be kidding,if I was a new customer I would get it for £49 + £30 install.Any input about how I could cut the cost,I am certainly not happy about being treated in this fashion.

Re: cost of sky plus
Remember that a new customer is getting the same interactive discount that you would have got when you first took out sky. You have already benefited from this discount which is why there is a difference in cost.
It's common practice that new customers get a better deal than existing as a new customer will bring in new profits whereas an existing one wont.
Some people have managed to get deals by ringing up to cancel and hoping that they will offer a retention deal.
the standard cost for a new customer for sky+ is £149 plus £30 installation. To get the £49 you have to also take multiroom at an extra £10 sub.
Do you have multiroom. If not you may get the same deal to upgrade your package as you will be bring extra profit to sky.

Re: cost of sky plus
I called SKY on Saturday to add an additional box and was offered it at £99 plus installation, but haggled with them and got a SKY+ box for £49 installed. I've already got SKY+ and ordinary SKY in another room. So that's SKY in 3 rooms now, I must be able to get one room that's mine (Wife & 3 Kids to fight for control of the remotes)?

Re: cost of sky plus
One way to get it cheaper on a new deal is ring up and cancel the sky that is in your name and then reapply in your partners name with a direct debit from another account. This means new customer so you get the discount. When i moved house sky wanted to charge me for fitting a new dish and i would be stuck with the old box which was playing up so i told them to cancel it and then took out a new subscription in the wifes name with a different bank account and got sky+ installed under a new deal with all the best offers available at the time.

Re: cost of sky plus
Have a look at THIS post. It suggests another way you might get +! I am surprised you did not get an offer some time ago. Being a long time subscriber, including Film and Sport, I was offered Sky+ free, with just a £30 installation charge. I jumped at it of course
